Manuela Guillén

Manuela Guillén is a freelance painter, muralist, and digital illustrator currently living in Philadelphia, PA.

Her murals can be found in both the U.S. and Mexico. Inspired by plants, tropical colors, and her cultural upbringing, Manuela aims to bring awareness to art education, mental health, sociopolitical, and environmental issues. As a teaching artist, Manuela hopes to inspire the next generation of artists to be creative as she continues to bring communities closer together through art.

Manuela’s artistic journey began in Miami, where she was born to a Cuban-Salvadorian immigrant parents. As a first-generation Cuban-Salvadorian-American, her art is a reflection of her heritage and personal experiences. Drawing inspiration from the plants and nature that she grew up around, she uses her work to celebrate her cultural upbringing and the diverse communities that have shaped her identity.

From designing illustrations for grassroot nonprofits to creating large-scale murals that brighten up the city’s walls – Manuela loves experimenting with different mediums and techniques, always pushing herself to explore new horizons and challenge her own boundaries.

Manuela has worked with cool folks, nonprofit organizations, and brands such as Starbucks, Glossier, Old Navy, The New York Times, and more. She has collaborated with local, national, and global art organizations such as PangeaSeed, Mural Arts Philadelphia, Gender Justice Fund, and more.
